Heart Lake First Nation

Heart Lake and Jeff Paquin joined forces in 2014 to create Wâpahki, with a vision of raising the Nation’s level of economic participation and venture ownership, while leveraging their entrepreneurial culture and remaining stewards of the environment.

Heart Lake has commendable traditional land use models and knowledge studies. They embrace responsible resource development while safeguarding their traditional values. This coupled with their relationships and approach to working with government and regulators has ensured timeliness for operational permits, and healthy oversight on behalf of Heart Lake members.

We support Heart Lake First Nation and Wapahki in their pursuit of this innovating technology and its commercial roll out. In doing so, the Government of Canada will help ensure First Nation can provide a socially and environmentally responsible solution to maximize the value for Canadian bitumen producers which in turn will benefit all Canadians.
